Now there's been a murder! Ahem... sorry, rather oddly timed death by natural causes!

*rings up Rupert Murdoch* It is done.
I totally call it being a hitman.

Give me 2 weeks, a "£20,000 advance and I could bang out a bloody amazing gritty-crime-action-thriller based on the events of the past couple of weeks. Man-booker prize here I come!

It could just be a rumour/hoax... I imagine they'd get Mick Hucknall playing Rebekah Brooks?

It does make one wonder.
Also, I think the part that blurred reality was what Murdoch did. I was hearing an argument today regarding what really happened with Dr. Kelley. Did he or didn't he commit suicide.
Sometimes it doesn't pay to be logical.

You'd have to be a moron to believe that he did.

is precisely that: everyone immediately assumes there was foul play.
If he was murdered by MI5/NI/the metropolitan police/the CIA/the Murdochs/Coulson/Cameron [delete as applicable], surely it would factor into their strategy that if he suddenly drops dead just as the whole story is going nuclear, everyone will assume it was them wot done it?
It's not convenient for MI5/NI/the metropolitan police/the CIA/the Murdochs/Coulson/Cameron [delete as applicable]. It's extraordinarily inconvenient. Now everyone's talking about a dead journalist as well as the other details. This is only going to raise the stakes for everyone involved.
Of course, maybe he was murdered, I can't say. I have no access to any of the facts. Neither do any of you.

He went public with his story about phone-hacking last year, but his name wasn't well-known to the public. The Guardian/Independent alliance have done well to get this story snowballing to the extent that it could swallow up their biggest rival, and take down a prime minister they don't like too. But unfortunately, no matter how big the story gets, it just isn't quite getting big enough.
They need a new angle. A martyr.
So they find this flabby, wheezing 47-year-old walking corpse who's spent most of his adult life shovelling industrial quantities of alcohol and cocaine into his choked arteries, and push him down the stairs. Et voila! Instant martyr, given a glowing write-up in the Guardian mere minutes after his death. And no mention of possible foul play. Isn't that suspicious in itself? Surely the Guardian would LOVE to play up possible conspiracy theories about his death? Ah, but you see, that would be too obvious. It's the classic double-triple-bluff.
Well, it makes as much sense as any other theory.
