I have the original first edition hard cover versions of tintin on the moon, from 1959 or so. They were my dad's. Just reread them and it's interesting to see how spot on some of the assumptions about the moon and space travel in general were, and how wrong other details have proven to be.

Yeah, I think Herge was in the habit of doing meticulous research, and then occasionally making it up as he went along if it looked or sounded cool.
