My tip for buying kinder eggs...
...pick up your egg and rattle it before buying.

A lovely kit-form toy will usually take up all the space and make no rattling noise, but a crappy figurine will rattle a bit more.

This is of course a general guide - sometimes they pack in extra bits of paper to stop excess rattlege.
