A few years ago a couple of guys I knew noticed some blue powder in the milk and found more upon checking the kettle.

Yes, it was rat poison. Yes, they had had stomach problems. Yes, the other, quiet, reclusive, always-dressed-in-black flatmate was asked in no uncertain terms to leave quite quickly.
