We used to live there a few years back, so everything is half-familiar.

Timepiece...is that the sports place with pool tables, or the club thing behind it or..erm.../shrug/

The Timepiece is...
the large nightclub just behind the sports bar, which is called the Hole in the Wall. If you want seriously cheap booze go to the Imperial Hotel, where a pint of Guinness can be had for about 2 quid.
There's an abundance of recruitment agencies on the High Street. Try looking in the local newspaper (Express and Echo) on Wednesdays when all the jobs are advertised. HTH.
