You can get an extention
to make the alt text pop up.

Or you could encourage people to use "title" instead of "alt" so it works on proper browsers.

Somewhere in options
empty the temporary internet files.

When the cache fills up, you can't see the filesizes and it only lets you save stuff as BMP.
