# So are Sony just being nice?
Whether you are aware of it or not, you didnt previously spend ages looking at shed loads of amusing pictures to do with it did you? Aimed at furthering your brand awareness, and associating the PS2 with humour as found on B3ta. There is a f'in marketing dollar over everything these days.

Vive la revolution!
(, Fri 20 May 2005, 13:49, archived)
# i shall go home and burn my PS2 tonight,
bear in mind that i only own 5 games.

# to be fair on Sony (god knows why)
there is a fuckload more involved in the creation of an ad campaign than the initial idea.
(, Fri 20 May 2005, 13:42, archived)
# see
above, they are marketing to us!

We are supposed to think they are cool, because they sponsor b3ta compos.

I say NO to your dollar Mr Sony, unless you want to give me a job, in which case I will HTML for food.
(, Fri 20 May 2005, 13:44, archived)
# considering that 90%
of the compo images are berrating sony, I really don't think it's the best campaign they could got for £100.

(, Fri 20 May 2005, 13:53, archived)
# He didn't release it.
Whoever owns the rights to his crap released it. They are trying to get the money from sales while they still can - they know he's gonna be convicted. Even if he escapes conviction, his reputation is tarnished beyond repair now and they can never hope to get the sales he could once achieve.

It's just the bigwigs trying to squeeze the last few drops out of him while he still has supporters.
(, Fri 20 May 2005, 13:57, archived)
# pfft

# but companies have realised
that there is a lot of 'alternative' credibility in mimicking the subversion of their brand* - makes them look cooler
*it does make sense...maybe
(, Fri 20 May 2005, 13:48, archived)
# I
concur, and b3ta shoudl be kept for fun only.

I will buy a b3ta t-shirt if they refuse to run any more corporate ad campaigns. And keep b3ta for the people.
(, Fri 20 May 2005, 13:50, archived)
# On the other hand
They do make a 'slim' version now, which would look good next to my stereo....shit!
(, Fri 20 May 2005, 13:51, archived)
# hahahaha
*falls off playstation laughing*
(, Fri 20 May 2005, 13:52, archived)
# Yeah,
but there are other fuckers who get paid to do this sort of shit, instead of farming it out to shmucks who'll give them all sorts of ideas for free, and one which they'll then use for the cost of a PS2. And not even the retail cost of one either.
(, Fri 20 May 2005, 13:52, archived)
# the winning image won't be used in an ad
they aren't looking for ideas for a campaign.

(they've already got lots of staff to do that kind of stuff for them anyway.)
