Holding that down at college spawns about 200 "DENIED" windows within 5 seconds
It's great fun to do to someone else, you have to click off EVERY SINGLE MESSAGE.

Windows 2000
Is the most popular operating system in the planet which is an *actual* fact, its used more world wide than any other operating system.

'most widely used'
doesn't necessarily mean the most popular.

this
(

that is
The most popular is always the most used!
Otherwise your saying there could be 50 people in this world who love Amiga Workbench so much that they have the logo tatooed on their ring pieces, and that could make it more popular?
(
Lord Ponsonby Smythe, Thu 20 Oct 2005, 16:23,
archived)
No, but something might be more popular but people don't have access to it.
Hurricane Katrina was the most widely used wind for Property damage in New Orleans. Does that make it more popular than other hurricanes?
Personal freedom is probably much more popular than total government control in china. doesn't mean it's more widespread than the less popular option.
And no, it doesn't work the other way round either.
Most widely used does not equal most popular.
Which also means that most popular does not equal most widely used.

pffttt...
thats the most crap comparrison you could have come up with! your just an Microsoft hater because you just cant accept their greatness and bow down!
(
Lord Ponsonby Smythe, Thu 20 Oct 2005, 16:32,

That certainly is not the most crap comparison I could come up with.
And I have expressed no opinion of Microsoft.
If you can't see the difference between 'most widely used' and 'most popular' then I suggest you get rid of your Tesco Value dictionary and buy a proper one.
I'd draw you a Venn diagram if I could be arsed. But I can't.

Bollocks.
Popular [Dictionary.com]
Widely liked or appreciated: a popular resort.
Liked by acquaintances; sought after for company: “Beware of over-great pleasure in being popular or even beloved” (Margaret Fuller).
Of, representing, or carried on by the people at large: the popular vote.
Fit for, adapted to, or reflecting the taste of the people at large: popular entertainment; popular science.
Accepted by or prevalent among the people in general: a popular misunderstanding of the issue.
Suited to or within the means of ordinary people: popular prices.
Originating among the people: popular legend.
---
Popularity does not generally imply liked or wanted - just used.
And to say that Katrina was "used for property damage" is stretching the point I think.
But one question - was there any shopping of the win2k loading screen, or are we just supposed to shake our heads at Microsoft? If so I think you missed a trick with Windows ME, which is truly shite.
