noob answer:
I opened up the video in a video player, scrubbed along the timeline to each of the frames I wanted, pressed "PrintScrn" and then pasted into photoshop. Then I used Gif Movie Gear to put all the PS layers into frames of a gif...

well quick tip
save all images from print screen in a separate folder
then in image ready go file import folder as frames
it will load all pictures as frames ready for editing so much quicker
