It pisses all over Damien Hirst's crap from a great height, and has a bit of thought behind it all.
Long may he do his stuff.

apparently one of my old housemates went to school with him... I don't know how true that is though.

that has pictures of him
so you should be able to verify the claim

but some of it's damn good satire too
his american beetle, for instance was such genius that the museum he sneaked it into kept it up ;)

which is a shame as i usually find his stuff rather trite and would like to see something good by him.

"Nathan Barley purchases a copy of Knees Royale, the debut album from a knowingly lo-fi Westbourne Grove-based band called The Knees, whose music is a thinly-veiled amalgamation of the Strokes and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs (yet manages to be precisely one-hundredth as rewarding) and whose CD cover boasts a specially commisioned portrait of the queen wearing a Bomberman helmet, sprayed rebeliously on the wall of a Soho alleyway by dangerous urban street art phenomenon Banksy, whose provocative stencilled images of riot vans and monkeys effortlessly shatter the cosy mindsets of all uptight “normals” who see them, while simultaneously providing a vague sense of inclusive 21st-Century somethingism to the self-orbiting cuntrungs who frequent the kind of gentrified media locales in which is sixth-form wall-splatterings tend to be somewhat conveniently displayed."

Does that make you a cunt too? :)

So Charlie Brooker doesn't like Banksy purely because of the real life Nathan Barley wanky rich kids that think he's great.Who are also the people who think that they are the biggest Nathan Barley fans.
oh the irony
the question is, how many of the Nathan Barleys know what the pictures, paintings, sculptures and posters are actually about?

I kind of see where he's coming from, but I think a lot of Banksy's stuff (not just his stencilings) is good from a satirical edge, like the thing above.

And his stunts are as you say, amusing.
But his self-praising books are utterly cunty. "It's never wrong to lie to a copper" - blimey, how easily all that unpleasantness in the Yorkshire Moors could have been avoided.

and if that's the sort of thing he puts in them, I never want to
