I just call it a hand-and-a-half sword, as that's what it's always been called around me.

That's a hand-and-a-half sword
You can swing it one handed if you're well-trained, but it can also be used two-handed. They're sort of between a zwei-hander and a longsword.
Aragorn's spethial sword in Return of the King is a bastard sword.
