Open-source completely fails at usability in this case. I want to be able to use the fucker WITHOUT reading the manual, you elitist cunt designers. That's intuitive design and it is not a fault on the user's part if they cannot pick it up and use it.

Easy reading is damn hard writing
As Nathanial Hawthorne said.
(
Pachey, Thu 27 Sep 2007, 11:08,

This is slightly unfair.
The GIMP was one of the earliest open source projects to create a proper graphics package. They weren't experts at human/computer interfaces and naturally they didn't want to just clone another program.
They unfortunately made a few mistakes and it was difficult to fix this without re-write that would break the upgrade process etc.
They certainly aren't elitist; they don't insist that their layout is the best or even perfect. In fact, the next release branch has a much improved interface.
And seeing as you're getting a powerful image manipulation program for free that's coded by people in their spare time, it's unfair to call them cunts. They're not doing it to spite you.
