Comic Sans has a kind of formally informal thing going on.
It says "I'm professional but approachable".
It is therefore used mainly by Vicars, school teachers and ineffective management-types.

a lot of schools use it as their official font for the kids work - apparantly its easier to read if you have dyslexia.

Nevertheless it makes my blood boil when I get a formal work email using some Outlook stationary and written in magenta comic sans.
