# hehe
clicked - and by the way, does clicking your own stuff count? can you do it more than once?

# I have spoken to cr3 about this
and he said that an evil penalty isn't applied for clicking yourself, the vote just doesn't count.
(, Wed 4 Nov 2009, 23:59, archived)
# Ah, so it doesn't count?
I have tried it, and then tried to figure out if it made any difference at all.
(, Thu 5 Nov 2009, 0:01, archived)
# I doubt multiple votes count either. If you have a look at the url for clicking the I like this! button there's a "verify code" in there
Presumably that's to stop such fraudulent behaviour.

Also: in my experience, generally stuff that appears on the popular page is good and has likely been clicked by a lot of people. If multiple and self votes counted there'd be a load of ignored shit on there.

# ^ this
Also I think cr3's just too thorough to leave a loophole like that ;)
(, Thu 5 Nov 2009, 0:12, archived)
# Is that why people click all thier own posts, then?

(, Wed 4 Nov 2009, 23:59, archived)
# What kind of person would do that?
*whistles innocently*
(, Thu 5 Nov 2009, 0:01, archived)
# Of course, I've never done it in my life, no sirree bob, no way, never.
Not once.
(, Thu 5 Nov 2009, 0:04, archived)
# I know you'd never do something like that!
Incidentally, I was phoned up today and asked if I wanted to apply for a job in Bridge of Allan. I assume they didn't look at my details before calling....
(, Thu 5 Nov 2009, 0:11, archived)
# Bloody hell, it's a small world...

(, Thu 5 Nov 2009, 0:13, archived)
# I know,
I thought, oooh, maybe I should tell Al about the job, but then I thought, nah, he is a chemist, not in Project Management or Procurement. Oh, and I don't like him anyway ;)
(, Thu 5 Nov 2009, 0:16, archived)
# evil penalty, eh
so if I multiple click something I think is poor, that person might get b& or something. As well as fp'd. Where's Larue when you need him?
(, Thu 5 Nov 2009, 0:00, archived)
# No.

(, Thu 5 Nov 2009, 0:02, archived)
# Well fuck it then,
back to the multiple account approach to get a fp.
(, Thu 5 Nov 2009, 0:06, archived)
# Votes have no effect on what gets FP'd.

(, Thu 5 Nov 2009, 0:07, archived)
# It's pretty unlikely that something will get FPd unless it's either spotted as it's posted by a mod, popular paged by votes or the poster is monkeon.
So registering 30 accounts and clicking every picture with all of them can't hurt with option 2, I suppose.
(, Thu 5 Nov 2009, 0:10, archived)
# Well no, you're right,
but what I meant was there isn't a certain number of voted you reach where you get Insta-FP'd.
(, Thu 5 Nov 2009, 0:12, archived)
# I'd bet my bottom dollar that IP address comes into it somewhere too
so unless you had proxies for each of your accounts, that probably wouldn't work either.

# Yeah
I know that they don't technically, but one would hope that an out-and-out winner might get noticed and thereby have a chance of getting fp.
I wasn't really planning on multi-clicking or actually setting up lots of accounts either, I was trying to be tongue-in-cheek and clearly failing :)
(, Thu 5 Nov 2009, 0:14, archived)
# Oh I know.
You also have to take into account what the site mods would want on the FP, and how wide a pic is. If it's over 400px wide, it ain't gonna get on there.
(, Thu 5 Nov 2009, 0:17, archived)
# Except when it does.

(, Thu 5 Nov 2009, 0:19, archived)
# Like when?

# There is only 1 possible way to improve this post
And that is to put "Ug" in the dictionary. The number of times I've got spare "U"s and "G"s to dispose of in Scrabble...
(, Thu 5 Nov 2009, 0:01, archived)
# You know that "gu" is a word though, right?

(, Thu 5 Nov 2009, 0:04, archived)
# Somehow the letters arrange themselves that such a combo is blocked
I do, however, appreciate the existence of the words QI and ZEN.

# My mum and dad came over the evening after I met you guys.
We played Scrabble.

I won, as I almost always do when I play them. I suppose it's not their fault they're illiterate.
