Jones the Steam wasn't too impressed with the new privatised railway....
RIP Oliver Postgate, who inspired quite a few of us grow up and become train drivers.

"it's alright lad, he's gone to a better place"
although i'm not going to a better place, i am going. i lose my internet in just less than an hour and a half. i don't know when i will be back, but believe me, it'll be as soon as can possibly manage it.
i'll miss b3ta and i'll miss all of you. :'(

Heaven is a long way away :-) Bye mr P.
Oddly, when I was a lad, I thought the voices were done by Brian Cant.

I too...
...am saddened by the news.
I thoroughly recommend reading his autobiog if you can get hold of a copy (it's called "Seeing Things)
No groovy image I'm afraid, but you should definitely take a look at the doc that my employers re-broadcast the other night as a tribute. Sadly it's not on iPlayer, but it is on the Tube of You...
Part 1 = uk.youtube.com/watch?v=98CvOuXhwDw
Part 2 = uk.youtube.com/watch?v=8ggV5cM7QN8
Part 3 = uk.youtube.com/watch?v=WlepPyIHEBc
It was made a few years back, when BBC Wales created some "Ivor the Engine" themed trailers for digital TV, using scans of the original artwork. I've tried like mad to find them on YT or a similar site, with no joy, I'm afraid.
A very very sad loss, you need only look at new stuff like "In the Night Garden" to see his long-lasting influence. He will be greatly missed. *raises glass* *sheds tear*
