Belgium
Roads and motorways are shockingly shit maintained but Ghent is a nice place. Charleroi is the end of the earth and even Basildon would not twin with them.

I've driven a lot in Belgium (I live here)
And I don't find the roads that bad.
Sure some motorways are better in France but the price for that is ureter clenching bad.
Just to see my mum, I'd have to pay about 90€ in toll if I took the most direct route.
About twice the value of the diesel I'd burn for the trip...
And 70% of the money does not go towards new roads or taxes (I'd accept that and pay) but gets funnelled offshore to some smart rich dude's bank account to pay for luxury yachts, cocaine and top models.
