This is a link post The Battery That's Lasted 176 Years
The Oxford Electric Bell, which has rung (almost) continuously for 176 years. No-one is brave enough to dismantle the battery to identify exactly how it was made. It is estimated that the bells will wear out before the battery runs down.

This is a normal post Not surprised it is still going
probably a few thousand volts and very, very, very low current load.
Simple low voltage primary cells stacked into a massive pair of batteries.
I agree that mechanical failure will probably kill it before the batteries go flat.
Really puts a lot of modern battery powered devices to shame though.
Charging a watch every day? Really?

This is a normal post How about the light bulb that has been on for 115 years?
I have seen it with my own eyes (not for all 115 years, but...)
