I have wide tastes myself, though I like my black metal rather straight and old, almost all* crossovers, while some of them interesting indeed, sacrifice essential qualities of the genre trying to be so.
*but not all.
I remember you were linking Pazuzu, quite possibly we had this conversation already :)
