Well yes they will if the importers pass it on. It's a tax. That's how taxes work. This is my realising how taxes work face.
And like any tax the state then spends it.
Like in my example of reducing tax on healthy food.

So you're happy that the government will be stealing an extra 10% of our money on a significant proportion of our goods, as their tax allocation and spending plans are absolutely above criticism and we'll definitely be seeing all of that ploughed back into public services, the NHS and saving babies.

I believe in the welfare state which has to be paid for out of taxation so absolutely yes.
If that mean putting a 10% tax on eu goods so people source locally or pay the cost of undercutting uk producers then so be it.

You can't source locally you dumb shit
We don't have a manufacturing base, we produce a low number of luxury items and a lot of our imported food won't grow here because of the climate.
Also British goods are shit, we've got a horrifically lazy, undereducated workforce who are just about able to half-ass a job as a bar person.

What something better are you envisioning? I'd just like to understand this amazing future utopia you've envisioned and the exact steps you're expecting this slightly irrelevant island cluster and it's ultra competent politicians to take to get there.
