a wagging tail doesn't just mean he's happy
it can also mean he's distressed, and the pathetic little yelp he makes as well

It looks more like he's trying to shake it off. A good indication of whether or not an animal is happy is whether the ears are forward or back - forward = happy, back = unhappy. It's ears are mostly back.

It was obviously a wee bit uncomfortable with the head adornment
but I think it was fairly reassured the fact its owner was there. If left on for much longer would have been cruel but I think it was ok. It probably got lots of reassuring cuddles shortly after film was made. I have a dog and agree... to an extent... with the ears and tail wag comments.... but I think this little fella will be fine. Ears were neither naturally back or forward... I think they were pretty much held in place by head set.
