A lighthouse!!
Since it was a sunny day, I went for a ride along the coast to Portland Bill today, and it reminded me of one my favourite TV programmes from when I were a wee nipper! Here's a bit of childhood reminiscing for anyone that remembers.

So simple and so effective!
Oh come with me to the rolling sea, where the weathers calm and still...

I think that programme was probably one of the reasons why I have always been into boats and the sea!
If I ever get around to having kids, I think I will have to track down DVDs of programmes like this. I don't think kids TV is anywhere near as good as this any more (that said, I don't watch kids TV so I can't really comment!).

but I haven't seen anything else that's much cop. And nothing that I think would induce proper nostalgia twenty years hence. Not like this, which still makes me well up:

I think I still have all of this version of the wind in the willows on VHS. Sadly I don't have anything to play them on :(
I keep hearing good things about Horrible Histories. I probably ought to check it out some time!

that's brought back some memories, I used to love this.
I thought it was Cockleshell Bay at first, but that was something different, getting confused in my old age.

a Portland Bill duvet when I was a kid. I loved it.
I was also immensely disappointed when on holiday as a nipper when my parents told me we were going to visit portland bill that day - and they took me to a bit of boring coastline and not to meet the bloke who lives in a lighthouse
