Frankly the policeman did the right thing. I don't particularly think standing there and shooting the guy makes him a hero, but I don't disagree with what he did.

A quick 'taze' some CS and its all gravy. America is nutter homeland, it should be normal procedure to deal with this sort of shit.

American cops have a spray don't they? That would require him to get quite close though. The guy needed to be stopped. Immediately.
The other side of the coin is that the officer didn't react strongly enough, and the victim suffered fatal bites.

once you take the descision to use lethal force, you stick with it. One shot or twenty to neutralise the threat; whatever it takes.
