Is it any good?
It has been on my LoveFilm list for absolutely ages but, alongside the Wicker Tree, I'm not really sure I want them to ever send me it.

I liked it.
It gets thrown in with the Star Wars prequels in terms of undermining the previous films, but I don't think it was any less daft than Temple Of Doom. It doesn't quite have the iconic 'scary' moments of that film. Lots don't like it though.

it has a bit with a guy swinging through the trees like tarzan with cgi monkeys
they might have even used the tarzan noise, but I was too busy groaning like a spazz and slapping my hands over my eyes to be sure.

Oh dear.
That is basically why I didn't like Rise of The Planet of the Apes, and that didn't have the Tarzan guy in it.

I have heard this said by everyone who has ever seen it.
There is another Wicker Man sequel coming out soon, I see...

I describe it as
Tintin, before Spielberg had secured the brand. If you watch a proper Indiana Jones film, then Crystal Skull, then Tintin, you'll see what I mean.
And the Tintin film was boss, and silly action sequences worked, because it's based on a cartoon.

That's the difference I think. If it was animated like Tintin it would have been a lot more warmly received.
It helps that I don't hold the original films to my heart quite like many other people, so I viewed Crystal Skull fairly objectively and enjoyed it for what it was.
Tonally I don't think it was any less daft that the other films. And the aliens plot didn't bother me at all. No more outlandish than anything in the previous films.
