Centuries of Sound - 1899
I made this!
My mix of music and sounds from 1899 is here, I think it's actually pretty listenable this time, much better than 1898, which was leagues ahead of 1897. I wrote what was supposed to be a short blog post about "Hello, Ma Baby!" to go with it too, and it ended up being pretty long. Also included is mixcloud, mp3 download, mp3 pack, itunes, etc. etc.

Great stuff
Just surfacing to show some appreciation of the work that's gone into this :) What are your sources for these? I've been trying to look for turn-of-the-century folk music from Austria/Hungary and not having much luck...

I keep meaning to write up my list of sources. It's quite a long one.
Turn of the century Austro-Hungarian music is something I haven't found at all, as of 1910. Even German stuff is pretty thin on the ground. OTOH I have more Russian opera recordings than I can deal with.
