This is a link post Getting the better of a one inch and 2 inch step I made this!
Trying to get the stride length right to cross these small steps was very hard to get right. It's taken me the best part of 4 physio sessions to get this correct

Big day today for me as I am at the limb centre this morning getting my stump measured so that they can make the socket for my new leg.

This is a normal post Looking good fluff, apart from that "terrible turn"!
It looked OK to me.

This is a normal post Had my session with the leg fitters this morning
They used a hand scanner that projects a pattern of light onto the surface of the skin and then converts the ref into a 3d model.
That is sent to there factory where it is cncd from dense foam and finally a vacuform a stick is molded over the shaped foam to produce the fitted socket for my stump.

This is a normal post One thing I have found out
Is how much different it is wearing a slipper to wearing a trainer to a shoe.
Although the trainer and the shoe are both very close to each other with regards to hight of my heel and hight of the ball of the foot.
Walking is so much more different.
The slipper is great for allowing me to feel the floor through the sole and goes along way to giving confidence that there isn't a low grip floor.

I have had to make decision today on what footwear to have the new leg built around.
So my choice is for trainers as there are more choices with these that have the correct pitch and they can be bought everywhere if needed.
If I was to put normal shoes on then the foot would have a more pronounced forward tilt that would cause damage to the stump due to the weight loading being in the wrong place.

I will with luck have my new leg ready for first fitting by 3rd August.
Although it will need some rework doing due to having a new stump shrinker as my first one has done its job and I am now on the next size down.
It is pretty normal to have the first fitting of the socket for it to be to big due to muscular atrophy and the shrinker doing its job.

And as a side note my dependency on morphine is very nearly gone I have reduced the intake to 1x5mg in the morning and again in the evening this a huge reduction from the quantity I was taking pre op. The tramadol and codeine are also on there last issue and will be finished by next month.
So now it is down to physio and me and I know that I won't be doing anything to hamper my progress, I am enjoying being pain free and having a clear head and I am in complete awe of my wife for being so strong and seeing through all the drugs and pain and depression that the man she married was still in there.
Will be an update when the leg arrives.
If you have any more questions please feel free to gaz me.
