"Sticking it to all those young hipsters and student latte drinkers yeah...don't know what hard times are, right? Yeah?". Most amusing thing about the post is that at a point in time this person thought the UK government would do a good job...I always thought the worse case for the return of sovereignty was the return of sovereignty.

I'd be all up for the cunts learning what a 10 year recession was like if I didn't have to go through it too

If only there were a way
in the world of modern technology to apply laws as an individual thing, only to those who voted for them.
Then I could keep access to the EU, tariff free trade etc and all the fools who voted for it would have to pay 30% extra for EU products, not
get compensation for cancelled flights, not be allowed to move around the EU etc
Would be great getting rich watching the wankers suffer.
As it is the decisions of fools will decide my future but when was it ever not thus?

Only the delusional, stupid or wilfully destructive ever thought the UK government could do a good job
There was never a single valid reason to exit the EU. "return of sovereignty" means absolutely nothing, except that we've now ostracised all of Europe, made ourselves into a tiny irrelevant pariah on the world stage and are willfully walking off a cliff edge into recession.
Anyone that voted for or promotes Brexit is a seditious saboteur who has gone out of their way to make this country worse for everyone (except perhaps retired racists on gold plated inflation linked pensions).

Seeing as you mention "saboteurs"
How do you feel about those 2 tory and 18 labour MEPS that voted against moving the negotiations on to the next stage so we can start making plans for trade? Clearing not in the interest of the people they represent. I can see this as "gone out of their way to make this country worse"

They were outvoted, so they haven't affected anything.
Also, there are stacks of actual MPs who aren't representing the interests of their constituents - For example London overwhelmingly voted to stay in the EU yet all of the turncoat asshole London MPs are suddenly toeing the party line instead of pressing to stop the process entirely or at least push for another referendum.

So they thought well "we cant win the vote so lets vote with the majority"?
Not giving a shit about how it looks back home or how it could undermine the uk negotiating power?
At this rate I fully expect us to just walk away from the talks.

Why would someone vote with the "majority" when they are fucking wrong?
Just to be in the club? To not rock the boat?
It's basic honesty and integrity and I wish we had more than a couple of MPs/MEPs who had stuck to their guns over this and not performed an abrupt volte-face at the first given opportunity.

No-one has blocked any trade talks..or we wouldn't have got the "trade deal" with Japan..which was the EU one, because no-one could be bothered to re-negotiate.
Personally I'd be blocking all and any talks if I were in any position of responsibility, because staying in the EU is in the best financial interests of everyone in the UK, even if some of them are too stupid (or racist) to realise why.
( , Tue 10 Oct 2017, 15:44, Share, Reply)
I was talking about trade talks with the eu which this vote blocked until more "progress" is made.
If you think that is in this nations interest then you're bloody masochistic.
Just answer this then. We're supposed to have solved the Irish border problem before we can talk about trade. How the shuddering fuck are we supposed to sort the border out if we don't know the trading situation?
Those cunts in the EU are prepared to fuck over the Good Friday Agreement.
This vote that UK MEPS supported had one purpose, to stop trade being discussed. And that is in their electorates best interest? Fuck is it.
It's over, we're fucking leaving. Every day bridges are being burnt that means we can't return in any acceptable form anyway.

They have said the government is being advised about rationing in case the import of food and basic goods goes tits up with no deal in place.
Possibly internet bollocks, but I'll probably keep a few extra pot noodles in the cupboard until this all blows over.

Easy
1) Popular protest and petition to exclude whatever you want to exclude from trade.
2) M.Ps via parliament make sure that it is excluded.
3) if (1) fails to bring about (2) then read the fucking label when you buy chicken.
Democracy init?
At least it'll be a damn sight more democratic than TTIP would have been.

The problem with 2) is that MPs are all bent and will put aside the country's interest for personal gain.
and 3 is fine if you're buying in a supermarket, but I doubt anyone has the time to read the small print in KFC.

Leaving without a deal means an instant 10% hike on all imports coming from the EU (estimated 3/4 of all of our imports).
7.8% of the UK population are considered to be living permanently below the poverty line. This is going to push that up in a noticeable fashion for everyone.
Ironically the EU average percentage of people living perm. below the poverty line is 15.9% so in many ways by leaving the EU, we're actually becoming more like them. Well done brexiteers.

Having spent last week in a factory in Marseille, I would suggest some countries could alleviate that poverty by not spending the 35 hours they are allowed to work discussing what to have for lunch.

That 10% import duty would go to the state right?
We imported £312 billion from the eu last year, think we could find a use for 10% that?
How about use some to lower the VAT on healthy food?

( , Tue 10 Oct 2017, 14:45, Share, Reply)
I'm sure we could, however what's actually going to happen is that the £312b will simply go up to £340b for us consumers. That's a huge extra wedge out of our pocket, which will hurt consumer spending, deepening recession and any tariffs raised will simply end up being sent on spiralling debt.
( , Tue 10 Oct 2017, 15:01, Share, Reply)

And like any tax the state then spends it.
Like in my example of reducing tax on healthy food.

So you're happy that the government will be stealing an extra 10% of our money on a significant proportion of our goods, as their tax allocation and spending plans are absolutely above criticism and we'll definitely be seeing all of that ploughed back into public services, the NHS and saving babies.
Thank god the government can be trusted more with my cash than I can.

I believe in the welfare state which has to be paid for out of taxation so absolutely yes.
If that mean putting a 10% tax on eu goods so people source locally or pay the cost of undercutting uk producers then so be it.
