PUNK ROCK LIFEBOAT!
I made this!
A couple of years ago I made a short for the BBC about how Steve Ignorant of Crass got to be a volunteer lifeboatman. But there was more to it than that...
Sadly, the nicest bloke in the village and coxswain of the boat Sam Sheldon died last week after a short go with cancer, so I'm posting the full length version to show how Steve managed to get Sam and the crew on stage at the Shepherds Bush Empire during an evening of Crass songs.
Also, details of how to donate a couple of pints' worth to keep Sam's legacy afloat, literally.
Cheers.

Yeah, he was full of beans when I last saw him last Autumn, diagnosed in January so it was mercifully short.
But yes, it's really torn a big hole in the village. And no one to make mind-blowing strange cocktails based on wine and brandy and some "secret herbs".

I watched this previously and often think back to it.
I enjoyed re-watching it although wish it was in different circumstances. A genuinely interesting documentary. Good work.
I'm hardly in a position to do so now but will happily donate the cost of a pint or two towards this fine independent endeavour at some point.
Sleep well, Sam...

I do bits and bobs with the punk scene in the UK and I had absolutely no idea that that is where Steve ended up. Brilliant little film about a brilliant organisation.
I've shared it on a couple of punk facebook pages and I'll be chucking some cash their way later this evening.

Thanks a lot for sharing and donating. As he says, supporting an indie lifeboat is the same as supporting indie bands, except lives are saved.
I was surprised at how many punks there are in Norfolk. The first night Steve tried out his Slice Of Life songs/stories show in the local pub, quite a few punks turned up from the surrounding area - one couple said "We were going to see UK Subs in Norwich tonight, but then we did see them in Diss a couple of months ago so we thought we'd come to this instead"
