This is a normal post Wow, that's great. A very different era.
But it reminds me of Ralph Nader's statement that cars of that time were unsafe "psycho-sexual dreamboats". Appealing to our deep emotional longings but causing carnage on the roads. I still want one though. Click!!

This is a normal post I love the big old American cars.
It's not the same thing but I hired a Mustang on a recent trip to the States and it was ace. Performance-wise it was useless (not helped by the speed limits out there), but the look of it and a low growl of the engine gave me goosebumps.

This is a normal post Personally I've only ever seen one American car that I didn't think was ugly.

This is a normal post My embarrassing love of Yank V8s resulted in training to be a mechanic years ago.
Had to give up on it for various reasons. Shame. Always retained a strong interest in the cars though.
A few years ago a friend tells me he's bought a mustang. I was proper excited. Then it turned out that it was a a mid-80s, Fox body style with a 2.8 V6 that managed a formidable 85bhp.
Also turned out to have more rust than an airplane graveyard.
Not so exciting.

They are scary quick though!

This is a normal post I know there are quicker cars,
but me and my old man out for a drive up a mountain/hill thing and the acceleration and power, even going up, was just amazing.
It never seemed to have no power, in whatever gear. I would have one tomorrow.

This is a normal post Oh my!
Yup, love the Brit V8s. Even if half of 'em have a well deserved rep.
Tigers, Stags, Interceptors, P5s, P6s, (and all those with the Rover/Buick lump) TVRs seemed to be pretty common 20 years ago, could always hear them before you saw 'em. The guy who bought what's left of the company is certainly taking his time about doing anything with it.

This is a normal post As recently as March this year
Les Edgar (The new owner, who also has the old molds and jigs) made an announcment he will be returning TVR to Le Mans 24 - in order to prove the reliability of the new cars.

He has also given Clever Trevor (now TVR Parts Ltd) the status of "Sole Authorised"

So something is rumbling.

This is a normal post It's a Fox-body; that's easy to fix.
There's no engine bay that's swap-friendlier than the Fox; you can go from anemic 2.3 4-banger right up into 500+ horsepower Mod Motor madness in an afternoon. Or in the bang-for-buck category, one of GM's LSx series engines can provide the foundation for cheap power, although most Fordnatics will fail to be impressed.

And while many of the uninformed might engage in a bit of knee-jerk "eww, pushrods" sneering, an OHV design offers superior packaging from an engine height point; you can keep those gorgeous low hoodlines when the cam drive is folded into the block.

This is a normal post Built to purpose, they are.
For making short work of long interstate highway miles, a proper Yank Tank puts them all to shame, being cushy without wallowing and making distances feel much shorter than they truly are. When you're west of the Mississippi, they're the weapon of choice for professional road warriors.

While I have no major regrets after replacing my '96 Roadmaster wagon with a newer people mover, I have yet to let it go, as its status as the last body-on-frame (BOF) station wagon gives it a special link to the decades when the roads were ruled by these queens of the highway.
