This is a link post Seeing my son for the first time I made this!
My baby son was born a week ago via an unbelievably difficult labour... he's awesome though. I wrote a little article for my friend's blog about it, and have been really pleased with the feedback I've had so far. It's basically my wife and I's way of moving on from the whole thing and looking forward to life with our little boy. Please do read and retweet, like, whatever. If you don't like, that's fine too. xx

*clicks 'I made this!' button with pride*

This is a normal post Top stuff.
We had a similar experience - 36 hours in hospital, escalating pain relief and eventual emergency section when the foetal signs started raising the alarm.

Aside from actually having the baby, 3 elements of the process will never escape me: a) sitting in front of my wife trying to keep a straight face as I was watching both her and the baby's vital signs going apeshit on the monitor behind her, b) the raw physicality of the c-section process (seemed from my end to be like trying to pull a pair of jeans out of an overloaded washing machine when they're all tangled up in the drum), and c) the utterly surreal period of waiting with the missus in the post-op recovery room, after our daughter had been carted off in an incubator to neonatal when her tests had shown low blood oxygen, with two nurses sat patiently by, alternating between uncomfortable silence and excruciating attempts at small talk while checking that the missus was doing OK.

All turned out hunky dory - she was only in neonatal for an hour or so and then reunited with mum. She turned 1 a couple of weeks ago :D

Congratulations.

This is a normal post We had a very similar experience
But baby was OK pretty soon after. I had that too with the heart monitor - it was going from 100 to 180 then down again in the space of a minute. In fact I have a video of the baby's heart rate that shows that... :(

Happy 1st Birthday :)

This is a normal post I was ready to dismiss that as soppy nonsense
But that was superbly written,
I've been there and know how it feels.
Congrats to both of you, enjoy every minute you can with your family.
:D

This is a normal post I'm extremely cynical about babies and baby pictures and baby stories.
But I'm sure if I ever have one of those things myself my attitude will change, so congratulations to you.

This is a normal post Well, I don't know you from Adam,
but congratulations to all three of you! Yaay!
Word of warning: if you ever felt that life was moving on to quickly, you ain't seen nothin' yet. Mine's 15 and that time has gone by faster than the previous 27 years before that!

We had a similar experience. Really amazing.
The novelty soon wore off though and after three weeks we decided this baby thing was not for us and put it up for adoption.

This is a normal post It's much less hassle to just put it in a cradle outside the local nick at 6 am.

My wife was in labour for 3 1/2 days, followed by a C-section. We have both never felt so exhausted.
