This is a link post Starblade
Anyone remember this game? Great for its time
I'm still looking for a non-laggy MAME version

This is a normal post Oh yeah!
They had a Starblade cabinet at the local leisure centre circa early 90's, the first time I'd seen a game with rumble effects and force feedback. Good times..

This is a normal post It was a beauty,
but didn't Space Harrier have the rumble effects first?

This is a normal post Space Harrier had the full tippy seat thing, but feedback in the controls only turned up in later driving games.
And none of those seats actually used hydraulics, as it's too hazardous for arcades to maintain. They used motorised screw-jacks.

The Playstation version of Starblade uses a really shittily encoded video of the background, and it looks pretty awful. It was pre-recorded on the arcade too though, on Laserdisc; only the things you can shoot are generated in real-time.

The Trocadero in London used to have Galaxian 3, a room-sized sequel to this that used three projectors and six gunner stations. There were two different branching games for it, 'Project Dragoon' and 'Attack of the Zolgear'. Although the Japanese original was a huge theme park installation with 28 player seats on a rig that moved them all and had 360° projection.
