This is a normal post I loved that.
Syndicate wars was good too, right until the level where it decided to take all your agents away and replace them with one bloke with a pea shooter and a limp. At that point I took the disk out of the machine and stopped playing.

• 512MB RAM (1 GB recommended)
• 3D graphics card compatible with DirectX 7 (compatible with DirectX 9 recommended)

Did anything of this spec exist outside NASA in 1993?

This is a normal post Daggerfall was fresh in stores 1996, wiki tells me
and I seem to recall my friend had this 486 super machine which still stuttered when a nuance of the morning sky needed to load or a farmer appeared on the horizon

...but it may have been a different machine... A lot of water has been passed under the bridges since.

This is a normal post I think 16 MB RAM actually.
No idea about HD. Seen this PC a year ago, beep code- missing CPU, but it was in place...
