Maybe. But it's a super cheap filler, and when the crap dries out, the white calcium is going to show.

Interestingly, some people seem to cast this as a "dogs had a healthier diet back in the 80's
when everyone fed their pooches with fresh bones from the butchers, now they eat over-processed rubbish" issue. Rather than that certain unhealthy additives have been banned from dog food.

they probably like to believe that everyone lived in a happier time with butchers and affordable bones for all

We started feeding our dog on raw food a while back.
It was minced up raw meat and veggies, and it also included ground up bone.
Over the summer, if he laid a dogs egg outside, and we didn't find it for a day or two, it turned white, just like the good old days. So this is probably true.
