On September 21, the king planet Jupiter will be opposite the Sun which will be 180 degrees from it,
A double celestial treat awaits astro-enthusiasts with Sun, Earth and Jupiter making a straight line in the sky and Uranus appearing brighter and bigger. Jupiter will rise opposite the Sun at sunset, touch its peak at midnight and set at sunrise,

May I also add that when I worked in a bookshop, (& forced by head office to stock 'em) the only people who bought "true crime" were scum, barely-literate scum. Plus one of them threatened (over the phone) to knee-cap me, as his (thick, chav) girlfriend picked up the wrong book, because she had no idea of the author or title.

i was at a reallly nice restuarant recently with the more wrong side of my family...when the talk got round to whats your famous book
in a loud drunken voice i hear "judas pig, is fucking brilliant"
shame and embarrasment.
(, Wed 22 Sep 2010, 10:12, Reply)
But it used to drive me absolutely fucking bananas that we *had* to stock at least a bay's worth these disgusting books.
And, as I said, the people who bought 'em (or more often than not read 'em whilst bellowing into their mobiles before leaving them scattered on the floor, were just awful- rude, loud loutish idiots. The kind of people who'd have no idea of the book they were after beyond "It's brilliant- he shot a couple of policemen, went mental..." & then get rude/sweary at the bookseller for not being able to pin-point the book.

The Colonel's post just down there has inspired me to put up something from the archives of my long and varied home recording career. It is almost impossible to play all of it live, so I never bothered trying...
Still, if you like odd industrial / synthy / rock type stuff you might like it.
You might not of course.
EDIT: 1.50 if you'd rather skip straight to the guitars.

* Television doesn't have breath
* I like you going falsetto
* No chorus / refrain
* Yeah quite like your voice
* The xylophone stuff is Exorcisty
* Nice clean / clear recording

Well, if you insist... But this is stream of consciousness style, not a structured, thought over review.
The synth sound puts in mind a little bit of Waltz in Black by the Stranglers. No bad thing except it's going to stop me going to sleep now! The recording is crisp and clean to my (admittedly damaged) ears, and the vocal floats very nicely in the mix.
I think overall it's perhaps a little flat, dynamically speaking. Yes, the string part gives it a little warmth later on, and I get that the slightly loopy, woozy synth parts are recreating the sensation of being high, but for me it feels a little like it sets its stall up, then doesn't really change an awful lot over the rest of the song. The drums are fantastic, but they lack a bass line to intertwine with. Perhaps a slightly fuller instrumentation would add a little warmth and pathos to the whole thing (but bear in mind, I go in for seriously OTT instrumentation so this is really a personal taste thing).
I like it, and your (?) voice can definitely carry it well, I just think it needs a little something to bring it life a bit more.
I may be missing the point horrible of course, in which case feel free to correct me. :)
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 22:38, Reply)
I originally wrote it on organ, then recorded/(sequenced?) it.
I probably could have added more instrumentation, perhaps to give it a bit more of a crescendo toward the end, I tend to get carried away when adding instruments and don't know when to stop so I often try to keep it a bit simpler.
And yes it is my voice :)
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 22:42, Reply)
What it needs is just a smattering of 'real' instruments, just to make it a little more human. Again, I say this because that's what I normally do with my more sequenced stuff... feel free to ignore.
Great voice though. Wobbles on the tuning here and there (like, a tiny, TINY amount), but I like that, it feels somehow more honest.
Makes me miss having the time to record / upload my own music.
*sigh*
:)
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 22:49, Reply)
With the needing more real instruments.
and maybe slightly more contrast in the structural changes?
But overall pretty brilliant.
Love your voice. voices wobbling a bit on the tuning is what human voices do. it's a good thing.
*frowns in the direction of autotune.*
but yeah!
More! :D

perhaps a little too long before the vocals come in
i like where the drums go a bit crazy about 1:40
perhaps a bit too long a gap between the vocal lines
the glockenspiel is sweeeeeeet

Not as easy as it sounds. Whilst these guys are gentle, calm, unstressed, and generally very friendly; you just can't take the risk on a daily basis of venturing inside their enclosure. Them being friendly could well result in razor sharp claws ruining your day. So, getting meat inside their enclosure requires a little distraction. Enter James to distract the dad with a few tasty h'orderves, whilst the rest of the meat is cunningly hurled into the enclosure. Sorted!
Had to shoot this handheld because my tripod is a bit dramatic for the tube to Barnet
