This is a link post Hi guys! Remember the Jingle writer???? The one from the newsletter.
Well I decided to get in touch with him and persuaded him to do a Jingle for B3TA, now we have our very own Jingle! I present to you THE B3TA jingle. By Peter Modern. HOORAY!!!

It is a truly wonderful piece of work!!! He sent me the cd in the post! Awesome!

Edit: Now cleared for download, for you guys to play with by the man himself. Just click the download link on the page. Have fun. Not for profit though, although if you do (tongue in cheek) accreditation would be fine to peter madden, jinglewriter.co.uk , I'm sure, (me being protective, just in case of any funnyjunk/reddit/4chan type hijack) B3tan remix challenge would be amazing. So yeah now I have said what needs to be said and have the authority to do so, go for it! have fun with it guys! REEEEEeeeeMiXXXX!

This is a normal post Never underestimate anyone called Buzz.
TL:DR bit: I know a guy called Buzz, and I giggled a bit when we were introduced because the name just didn't fit. He was easily 90, about 5'2", totally unassuming but the complete gentleman with it.
Turns out during WW2 he was in the Fleet Air Arm, and they used to fire him off the deck of ships by catapault when they were under air attack in a rickerty old Hurricane. After the attack he would have to ditch in the sea and hope for the best. He shot down 4 Italian and 2 German planes and has a stack of medals. But he doesn't talk about it.
Anyone called Buzz is in MY team.

Yes, things have changed. Our 'heroes' these days survive reality TV shows or are wonderful at kickball. I'm not saying we should make gods of soldiers whose job it is to kill people when called upon, but perhaps we have gone too far the other way.

We don't have a written consitution. That's the point. We can't amend a document that doesn't exist, even if technically they call all the laws and statues we have a consitution.

This is a normal post No but you change change laws and statutes.
You try changing any of the rights to own weapons in the U.S.

And what do you mean "don't exist"?
Every law, bill and judgement is written down for the record.
Hell, every bill that goes through parliament is written done on vellum because it lasts longer than paper.

This is a normal post Not upset - Bored
I've had this exact same conversation with 1st year politics students and this time I haven't even got the benefit of a pint of snakebite.

Yes we don't have a bit of paper called "The constitution"
We do however have a a parliament that has proposed, passed, amended and retracted laws over a very long time. Because of it's nature it's easier to change these than a formal constitution.

I threw out there the European human rights list as it lists very clearly what your rights were and that it is the closest we have to a bill of rights U.S style.

At which point you started being a smart ass and talking about blacking out.
So, bored and fucking off to another thread or maybe even do some work.
(, Tue 19 Jun 2012, 15:20, Reply)
This is a normal post I was never questioning that laws can be retracted and amended.
Only that we can't have 1st Amendment style amendments, because we would need a constitution to for them to apply too.

Then you started going on about changing laws, and throwing out what appeared to be un-related articles about Human Rights. You're taking my silly logic quip with far too many srs beans.

What with there being no written constitution, which you yourself said. In that it doesn't exist. Non existant. Is not there. Has never happened. Nope. We can't amend a document THAT ISN'T THERE. Individual laws statues and the rest do not a written consitution make. There is no written constitution. It does not exist. We cannot amend it.

This is a link post Napalm Girl
So I got an email this morning through work, about a photographic competition that's being run in association with Unesco. It mentioned that the competition was being launched by Kim Phuc.

After the initial childish chortle I read on... "Mrs. Kim Phuc is the "Napalm girl" in the prize-winning photo."

You know, the one that /board regulars love to hate when it crops up as a photoshop.

I was quite intrigued by this as I thought no way was she still alive. Did some looking and it turns out she's got her own worldwide charitable foundation helping war-affected kids, and she's a UNESCO ambassador for world peace. This is the bio page from her Foundation website - it makes pretty interesting reading if, like me, you're occasionally interested in the story that lies behind some of these iconic pics.

Sorry, no kittens.
