Blackberry CEOs smoking crack?
So basically if you trade in your "old" iPhone, including iPhone 6 (oops) you get upto $550 off of the price of a Blackberry passport with $90 left to pay. Hmmm, I can't see this working out too well for them to be honest.

Physical keyboards are much better
for the primary function of these phones - email on the move.
Even if I get a seat on the train, trying to type on a small touch-screen is painfully slow and frustrating. When I had a Blackberry I got so much more done on the train. That may not appeal to you, but I'd suggest in that case that you're probably not their target market.

Doesn't solve the fundamental problem of a touchscreen keyboard
Which is that the lack of tactile feedback deprives you of one of the senses used when typing fast. I'm aware that there's screens in development which raise bumps over virtual keys, but that's still an inferior solution to a dedicated keyboard.

I prefer a physical keyboard (or using a stylus) if I have to type a large message / email / b3ta post on a phone
but the problem for Blackberry is that their target market is too small / has shrunk

That's not insurmountable
There's a lot of goodwill for Blackberry in the business market as the options for centrally managing other smartphones are still horrible. I mean centrally managing Blackberrys wasn't fun, but its a cakewalk in comparison to keeping a bunch of iPhones and Androids secure.
Blackberry bet the farm on the consumer market and got their arses handed to them. However the core product is still quite possibly the best available in the business sector.

honestly?
if everything was free... hmmmm... now let me think what's wrong there. Even in a resource based economy you need an economy, the clue is in the title, that means it comes from resources, if you have no resources, including skill which would be classed as a resource, you have no bartering power.
I've read extensively on resource based economies and this video goes into 0 detail except how great and perfect it would be, it wouldn't, it wouldn't work, it would need the co-operation of the entire planet in one single step to relinquish all power to become a level playing field, that just won't happen.

I also wonder how it would affect progress
the guy in the video mentioned exploring space, you or I wouldn't be doing that, again it would be select few who are physically and mentally up to the job out of millions of people. What would the individual have to strive for if the only concern is progress of the entire race?
Just nuke the whole planet, that would do a much better job than us trying to change what we are by nature, which is greedy cunts lol

It's almost as though he thinks this kind of thing has never been tried before
And if he does, believes it's different now because machines will do everything and not revolt.
If the idea was ever going to work, it's years away as machines can currently make very good coke bottles but not hospitals. And there'd have to be pretty ruthless population control to prevent us from killing each other.

I'm not saying a capitalist democracy doesn't cause suffering and slaughter
I'm saying on average, looking at its implication around the world, it causes less suffering than the alternatives, namely of fascist and communist states. In essence I'm agreeing with what Churchill said about it being "the worst form of government, but better than all the others"
There have been studies that show how living without money/in a sharing society cannot possibly work beyond a certain size. Human nature doesn't permit it.

We don't lose greed
Greed wasn't a concept created by the man to keep us all in check, its a basic human trait. Humans aren't all idealised people happy to work for the whole. Some are mean and selfish and want to do fuck all. Under this system they could and they'd be better off than anyone who did work for the greater good as they'd have more free time.
So then, with that in place, where's the incentive to build the machines that are going to do all the work for us? Where's the incentive to do the research to design or improve the machines? You can't base a planetary economy on the goodwill of a few people and some hypothetical machines that will free us all.

I think if everything is transparent
ie, you can see where your work is going and who you benefit .Greed will be eased out.
If you look at letts, for example, you could say, those Billions locked up in Buffet towers or trillions Rothschild's vaults, represent huge amounts of man hours not doing anything for the good of all. If we have a free society, there will be less chance to hoover up all the cash/labour/goods to just one point.

I think the only valid point you can sift out of that dung heap
is that eventually, we can eliminate hunger, homelessness and the need to pay for heating/cooling/lighting etc. through building advanced robotics to automate the process for us.
In order to reach that point, we very much need to have a resource driven economy that will allow us to encourage the brightest minds into engineering, computer science and nuclear physics.
The idea that the world could exist without any form of abstract value exchange (i.e. money) is surely something that even a semi-educated 14 year old stoner has managed to think their way past. Human beings all have vastly differing needs, desires and skills; making 'everything' free would mean that everything would have to be homogenous.
e.g. "here's your free house, the fridge fills itself and the Roomba-9,000,000 will constantly clean all surfaces and give hand-jobs on request"
"... but that guy's house is bigger..."

without money, it's not "without funding limitations"...
it's "without funding"
How do encourage the best people to do the research other than saying, "oh go on - it's for the good of the human race".
Hopefully, there will be some people who do that, but progress will slow to a crawl without anyone cracking the metaphorical whip.

You can only fund so much with cash
with unlimited resources, you'd achieve a lot more. Imagine all those research projects which are shelved due to 'funding limitations' They'd be given a green light. It wouldn't be focused on the schemes which suit the pharmaceutics industries either.

Just try to imagine that scene, but with one important difference...
The research project involves some super clever magnets and particle accelerators, and very rare materials etc.
Now you can choose A or B
A: Tell everyone who's willing to listen why it makes so much sense, and the benefits it will create for society, and try and convince them they will also benefit by contributing their money.
B: You can have all of the clever magnets and particle accelerators that you want, BUT - you're not allowed to pay the researchers ANYTHING. They all have to do it purely for the love of it, and since there's no backers expecting results from their contributions, there's no deadline either. Oh, and there are only 2,000 willing researchers on the face of the planet, because everyone else are driving around in Ferraris having fun. And the researchers are all super busy because everyone wants them to work for them instead, and because they're only working for fun, they don't want to work on your boring project anyway.

A common thread I've noticed in your replies
Is that you often compare the two paradigms, yet in your version of events, things still have value.
I think this is the crux of what you're missing. If everything is free, nothing has value.
In one of your points, you state that we could avoid the situations like 'Buffet Towers' hoarding all of the resources. If everything is free, then he can hoard all he wants, as can everyone else. (Warren Buffett is actually very well noted for his philanthropy btw - assuming that is who you were referring to?)
In your vision of the world, the only tangible resource will be innovation. And without anything to trade it for, the people blessed with the skill will either have to give it away for free, or find some other form of barter as motivation for doing it, when they could otherwise be sipping mai-tais on a lilo in their pool.
Which, of course, would be throughly boring by that point anyway, because it's all they've ever had to do. I honestly don't believe that humans could cope with a Wall-E type society, where everything is handed to them on a plate.
In the first few years of 'the change', roughly 25% of the population would eat and drink themselves to death. Another 50% would just wander around aimlessly in existential angst, wondering what the fucking point of it all is, and the remaining 25% would be vaguely content nerds tinkering with robots.
Without pain and suffering, happiness and joy is nothing. Without work, sipping cocktails next to a swimming pool is just something to while away the time until your pointless, non-contributing existence comes to a blessed end.
Money is just an abstract concept that facilitates the transfer of 'value'. Without the ability to earn and compete, your life will feel worthless.
Be careful what you wish for...

I'm sold.
I can let someone else take care of childcare for free while I sit on my arse all day eating machine-made chocolate that is also free, watching free telly filmed by unpaid cameramen, on a sofa that someone was kind enough to deliver to my house for nothing, even when I sent it back 3 times because I didn't like the colour.
EDIT: Oh, and can I have the chocolates delivered please? The factory is miles away and I don't fancy going there. I'm sure there are plenty of people who don't mind driving 100s of miles to deliver chocolates to fat lazy people for nothing.
