As far as i can tell it wasn't the phone that ended up in the drink, it was the charger. The mains charger. Which was apparently plugged in to an extension cable, resting on his chest whilst he was laying in the bath.

Hockey player intentionally fires puck into opponent's bench
From a minor league hockey game in Huntsville, Alabama. The puck struck and injured a trainer, sparking a brawl that ended in several ejections. Idjit who started it all was handed a game misconduct, and was suspended for the final 10 games of the season, as well as the playoffs.
Then, after everything seemed to have settled down, the goalies decided to square up.
The trainer was struck in his ear, and still has not regained his hearing 100%.

I never said sharing the images was justified. I said blaming the victim was justified to some degree.
Let me put it another way:
You can't blame a rape victim for being raped. The only way to guarantee that you won't be raped is to permanently avoid absolutely all human contact. We're not clairvoyant, so we can't assume we're safe at all times.
It's unreasonable to avoid all humans just to avoid being raped.
You can blame a victim of 'revenge porn' to some degree (if the pictures were made consensually), because they helped create the pictures. If they didn't take the pictures at all, they would never exist and there would be no chance of those pictures becoming public.
It's not unreasonable to avoid making images of your rude bits if you're at all worried about unauthorised eyes seeing them.

My decision to buy a mITX system based on the AMD Ryzen 1700/Radeon 480 got the same treatement.
Microsoft decided to pull drivers for said CPU IN Win 7 and 8.
This forces me to go Win10 with all the snooping and adverts it implies...
Not sure what to do, even the Pro Version of Win10 are too Invasive as of now...

It really irks me that people complain about Windows 10 'snooping' on them and serving up targeted ads, when the vast majority of it can be disabled.
Not to mention that a lot of the tools that complain about Microsoft's questionable privacy policy don't bother with VPNs and peruse the web quite happily with trackable browsers.
It's like these cunts moaning about the government snooping charter and their personal right to privacy being breached, despite owning a credit card, mobile phone, smart TV, subscribing to a broadband provider and being on the voting register. Spastics.

I was going to run an older CFD program on it...
It works great on Win7, but for newer versions of Win the uni would have to fork out a forklift of, erm, forks.
The R7-1700 would have meant a sub 1000€ 8 core, 18gb CFD beast. The same performance with Intel is 1000€ for just the cpu...
Edit, the computer would be airgaped and not running any antivirus/tasks/other softs, not sure basic versions of Win10 allow this

you can disable Windows Defender
that runs the anti-virus / malware detection, also firewall if you need. By "other softs" I assume you mean Windows Services? Those can be disabled too, some may be required for core operating system components to function, but you can cut a lot down. What's the deal with doing all that to it then?

But doing a fresh install of 7, doing SP2, and she's ready to go - all offline - is much easier.
Win 10 "needs" to be connected, or a work around + fiddling.
in that respect I'm what you could call a "lazy cunt".

I don't thnk you have anything to worry about with the
"snooping" as you put it, it's all configurable. Even Ubuntu tracks shit these days so what can you do? You either have a new computer that works, and customise it so it's more secure, or stay in the past, your choice.
