B3ta Issue 14 - 19 OCT 2001 - "Photoshop This Issue"
-------------------------------------------------

: BERT IS EVIL / THE "PHOTOSHOP THIS" TREND
.. you have the tools for creating chaos ..

You can't have missed the Bert is Evil / Bin Laden
images that floated around both the Internet and
  the mainstream press last week.

This was a good example of the "Photoshop This"
trend breaking out of the net ghetto - and reaching
  the international press.

Photoshop this? I.e. A web community repeatedly
editing the same photo for comic / satiric effect.

This trend started several years ago with people
faking nudes of celebrities - and now it has
mutated into something vastly more .. interesting.

And so, B3ta gives you it's favourite three image
  manipulation sites of all time.

-------------------------------------------------
: TOP THREE "PHOTOSHOP THIS" SITES
.. from Bin Laden to Jamie Oliver ...

  : DIE BIN LADEN

Pretty much every manipulated Bin Laden
image you could possibly think of. And then
    a few more.

: JAMIE OLIVER - FAT TONGUE

166 images of Jamie Oliver - a sometime
despised UK Chef - photoshopped into various
    film posters. Fantastic.

: FILEPILE - GENERAL IMAGE MAYHEM

Filepile is a community site where users can
    exchange MP3s, movies & images.

In the pictures section, people upload all
sorts of oddness - and the other users muck
    them about.

Look for files called "remix" - these
should contain versions of other images.

(BTW: You have to create a free account and
log in to use the site. Sorry.)

: TINY TENNIS LAUNCHED
.. Play Tennis in your Windows system tray

Ian Beveridge from Dynofoo helps design the
smallest computer games in the world - so tiny
that you can play some of them in the Windows
  system tray.

He has just got in contact to say he's finished
  their latest project, Tiny Tennis.

He says, "It's actually too tiny to play.
However, as tiny digital art, it succeeds."

  He's right. It's Art.

  - and so Pep from B3ta has made one for you to
  colour-in.

  a child.
