: LOVELY QUEEN MUM TRIBUTES
  We're touched.

When the Queen Mum died we were expecting a
flood of poor taste tributes, "thank God the
old slag is dead" kind of thing.

So we were most cheered when b3ta board member
Abyss Williams put together this bit of work.

"Well I didn't want to make a nasty animation",
says Abyss, "She was a sweet old lady . I've
always thought she would find a kindred
spirit in robots, and although she never got
to dance with them in real life, she does
  in this."

It's the way she would have wanted it.

  Furthermore, regular B3ta contributor,
Joel from Rathergood has also had a go. Although
he seems to think that the Queen Mum saved us
  from Hitler.

And finally, we really enjoyed these messages
apparently taken from the official "Queen Mum
  Remembrance Page." (Whatever that is.)

: INTERVIEW WITH JEFF MINTER
  He talks. We listen.

To many Jeff Minter is a God. We love him for
creating some of the best games for made for
  computers in the 1980s.

And now he's back - creating games for the
  PocketPC platform.

We got in touch and interviewed him.

BTW: He also told us this off colour joke:

"Why is the camel called the ship of the
desert? Because it's full of Arab semen."

  Made us laugh anyway.

: BLODE 4 - FOOD FEED FURY
Blode is back - and this time he's hungry.

Regular B3ta readers will know all about Blode,
the web based animation series created by
  Joel from Rathergood.

This one marks the first appearance in
animation of a character from the B3ta boards,
  "The Furtive Bear".

Enjoy. It's got penguins in it.

: GET YOUR BOOZE DELIVERED 24hrs A DAY
But only in you live in Brighton, UK.

This business idea came or our attention, and
we liked it so much that we decided to spread
  the world a bit.

The Booze Brothers have started a small
business delivering drink and cigarette papers
  when you have run out.

  Any time of the day.

It's a brilliant idea - giving people exactly
  what they want.

So if you live in Brighton/Hove, and it's
two in the morning & you've run out of
drink then give them a call on
  07887 483 406. Oh and mention B3ta. Not that
we are on a kick back or anything - but we
wouldn't mind some free booze ...

: WHAT B3TA PEOPLE HAVE BEEN MAKING THIS WEEK
Knitting, Sheep & weird face thing.

Look! They've knitted a jumper featuring an
character from a 80s computer game. We want
  one.

B3ta boarder Paul has been making stuff with
sheep. This one makes us burst out laughing.
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/paul.sullivan2/sheep....

Sim, another chappy on the board has produced
this deeply unpleasant thing. "I found the
sound somewhere on the net", he says, "I thought
it was so funny that I had to found photo to
fit with it. It was got really horrible!"

: HOW TO SPEND YOUR MONEY
  Buy broadband.

Nuff said. It's fantastic. We installed
BT Openworld at B3ta towers last week and
  haven't looked back.

There is a of £85.00 set up fee, and a monthly
  charge of £29.99.

Now we can download all the Buffy videos we
want. Oh, and MTV show, "The Osbournes" is
  pretty cool too.

  Awesome.

: T-SHIRT UPDATE
They are being printed next week. Yay!

A few weeks ago we announced that we were
working with FatLobster.com to bring you B3ta
  T-Shirts.

  They write:

"We have received 100s of orders for B3ta
t-shirts and have sent payment reminders to
  all those who have ordered.

"The t-shirts are being printed next week so
it's vital to get your hard-earned cash over as
  soon as possible."

  Please direct further queries to
  [email protected]

BTW: Pep from B3ta has designed some web
trumps cards featuring our favourite sites.
They look utterly fantastic. Let us know if
you if you fancy buying some - if there is
enough demand then we'll do a print run.
  Check them out.

: SITES IN BRIEF
Stuff we like that wasn't made by our mates.

This interview with Stephen Hawking is both
  informative and moving.

Ever wonder what happened to the actor who
played Denis Penis? He's staring in this
  rather average viral marketing campaign.

Buy some Jesus Sandals. Really. You can buy
them. The soles have "Jesus Loves You"
  imprinted on them. Cool.

Is this the coolest man in the world? He's
built a monorail in his back garden. It
  ROCKS!

Is it a dog? Is it a panda? It's panda dog!

In Japan the biker gangs Bosozoku put their
cats faces on their drivers licences to trick
  police. Surely this can't work.

Programmers! Google have released an API to
their search engine. This means you can mine
it for your own data. Sadly it's restricted
to 1,000 queries per day - but we know that
there is some very interesting and fun projects
to be made here. Get your thinking caps on,
and make sure you tell us if you make
  something cool.

: MP3 OF THE WEEK WITH BOOM SELECTION
It's in awful taste - forgive us.

Boom Selection is a web site dedicated to
finding the best bootleg MP3s being made in
  the world.

This week - we've hooked up with them to ask
them what's the best thing they've recently
  heard.

They've given us this extraordinary track
produced by Cassette Boy. It's a mix of
Frank Sinatra and other artists cut together
to produce a comment on the September the
  11th disaster.

It's mind boggling - and would fit well
with a Chris Morris TV programme.
http://boom.phink.net/approved/cassetteboy-fly_me_...

BTW: Boom also say, "We're also thinking of
putting out a 3 set of cdr's with something
like 700 mp3s of bootlegs, mixes and strange
business on. Probably sorting something out
through Rough Trade at 15 quid a throw.
  Maybe."

Check out the Boom Selection site.

: B3TA IS A WASTE OF TIME
  And now it's official.

Scottish newspaper, The Herald, has just
published a story accusing B3ta of being a
"waste of time" and "endangering our work
  ethic."

Did they read our business plan?
