Jackson Square, New Orleans, Christmas CarolsEach year just before Christmas, thousands of people gather in Jackson Square in New Orleans for Christmas caroling, and I was one of them in 2003. There were about 5 thousand of us, singing by candle light.
So simple. No fancy light show, no big names, no over-blown hoopla.
I usually don't recognize special moments until much later, but for some reason I knew at the time that I was part of something I would always remember.
