This is a QotW answer Update the FAQ.
Change the bit about images being 280 pixels wide to get on the front page, delete the bit about reposts never winning the image challenge (the only one I ever won was with a repost), change the filesize recommendations to [for example] 80kb for still images and 350kb for animations.

edit: actually, maybe there should be a seperate "guide to posting" which could be a lot simpler than a FAQ, and hopefully easier for the brain-impaired to understand.

This is a QotW comment this would be fine in principle.
at the mo, some people produce 60-80-100kb images for a 50kb guidelines (plucked out of thin air by Mystery bob)
if people knew the limit could go up to, say 80kb, then people would start sharpening their images more, and trying it on with 100-150kb to get a clearer image. The problem won't really go away, it'll just have a new set of boundaries to enrage some /boarders.
Personally, I say keep things as they are, and guide people a bit better, by having one of these...

I don't give a flying fuck if 'everyone is on broadband, anyway'. 50kb stills load fast, and you DON'T NEED any bigger. What's wrong with a cfb anyway?

Fuck 80kb. Fuck it.
