This is a question Controversial Beliefs

Some mugs still think the MMR injection gives children autism (it doesn't), while others are of the belief that we're ruled by billionaire lizard people. Tell us about views outside the mainstream which people go glassy eyed if you bang on about them (Your grandad's a racist - no need to tell us, thanks)

Everyone should be automatically added to the organ donor register at birth

(, Fri 26 Apr 2013, 15:54, 30 replies)
I don't understand people who are against this.
What use are they to you?
(, Fri 26 Apr 2013, 15:56, closed)
Usually two reasons
1) "My body doesn't belong to the state"

and

2) "My magical sky fairy won't let me into heaven without my kidneys"

Both of which shouldn't be good enough reasons for being able to opt out in my opinion.

I think you should be able to opt out,
but should be on by default. It's reasonable that most people don't plan on having an untimely death. I know I don't. I wouldn't opt out, it's just something I never get round to doing.

1) Actually it does, that's why suicide is illegal.
2) You don't need kidneys in heaven, nobody ever needs a piss up there. Unless it's God and that's where rain comes from LOLLERS

1) Suicide is not illegal, and hasn't been for fifty years or so. The state does not own a corpse, although it does have some say in how they are handled.

2) By your logic, there are no steak and kidney pies in Heaven. This is unacceptable.
(, Fri 26 Apr 2013, 16:55, closed)
there are steak and kidney pies in heaven,
they are made from the kidneys of all the sheep the Jews sacrificed to YHWH in the old days. And they never run out, because of miracles.
(, Fri 26 Apr 2013, 17:13, closed)
I prefer ox kidneys in my pies.
Who do I need to worship for that?
(, Fri 26 Apr 2013, 18:02, closed)
Buddha

(, Fri 26 Apr 2013, 21:48, closed)
There shouldn't be a register, or in fact any choice.
Your parts should be harvested as a matter of course.

Can we have your liver, then?

Good idea.
I'll grab the Chianti and fava beans on my way over.

I'd favour waiting until people are dead.
Otherwise, yes

Controversial in China.

(, Sat 27 Apr 2013, 11:34, closed)
no problem with that

(, Fri 26 Apr 2013, 16:20, closed)
I do. Murder rates soaring because as people kill for the organs.

(, Fri 26 Apr 2013, 16:23, closed)
...but if everyone's organs were harvested as a matter of course there would be a surplus of them
making them a less valuable commodity and not worth killing over

You've learnt nothing from the

(, Fri 26 Apr 2013, 17:15, closed)

That's hardly controversial.
We're bringing in a law like that here, and it's not had any opposition.
