This is a question My Biggest Disappointment

Often the things we look forward to the most turn out to be a huge let down. As Freddy Woo puts it, "High heels in bed? No fun at all. Porn has a lot to answer for."

Well, Freddy, you are supposed to get someone else to wear them.

What's disappointed you lot?

Fast Food
Living in the UK, I sometimes get to visit the homeland (Canada). For a few weeks, before every time I go, I indulge myself in fantasies of the wonderful fast food that I just can't get over here.
Poutine from KFC...Taco Bell...Tim Horton's...
Then, inevitably, on the ride from the airport, we stop at one of those highway service centres, I order lots (gosh, it's getting expensive in Canada), sit down, drool, have a bite, and...
Yuck. Why did I ever think this would taste good?
I'm going back to Canada in August. I can't wait to go to Swiss Chalet!

Okay, I haven't got a great amount to be disappointed about, I guess.

Timmy Ho's!
Mmmmmmmmm.....

Personally, I found poutine to be a bit of a disappointment. Maybe it's just growing up in a part of the world where chips and cheese, with either gravy or more often curry sauce, is a staple part of the diet and not a delicacy!

Harvey's
Hmmmmmmmm - as a Brit who lived in Canada I really miss Harvey's burgers. Probably shit now though as it's been about 15 years

Tim's is OK if...
it's only in comparison to coffee in shit-hole towns in the middle of nowhere that tim's is OK. otherwise, it's awful. taco bell? meh. Poutine? You gotta go somewhere other than KFC, pal. Just make sure they actually use cheese curds, not chunks of mozarella like a lot of cheaper places do. swiss chalet's actually not too bad. pretty hard to fuck up rotisserie chicken, and the sauce is alright. by the way, you can now buy little packets of powder to make the chalet sauce at grocery stores. what part of the great white north are you from?

@toqueboy
It's all shite. I think it's more that I miss the familiarity of it.
I don't drink coffee, Timmy's is just where my dad and I would go on Sundays, so it's more of a 'good times' thing.
My little sister works at Swiss Chalet, so I get extra dipping sauce!
I just build up this food in my head, because I haven't had it in ages. Then it all comes crashing down.

I'm from Kingston, BTW.

Poutine
I just looked it up and it looks and sounds utterly grim. Sorry, but it does.
