This is a question My Biggest Disappointment

Often the things we look forward to the most turn out to be a huge let down. As Freddy Woo puts it, "High heels in bed? No fun at all. Porn has a lot to answer for."

Well, Freddy, you are supposed to get someone else to wear them.

What's disappointed you lot?

sushi
eat this and you automatically become a gorgeous "sex and the city" girl glowing with vital good health and shimmering with sophistication.

the reality is a cold soggy mouthful of raw, dead fish. and salty sticky brown sauce. even the vegetarian sushi tastes like fish. and cold shit.

massive let-down!

actually
i really, really like sushi, but i can't stand sex in the city.

Where I come from
sushi is usually referred to as "bait"
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 14:42, closed)
*laughs*
It's only the sauce that makes it taste of anything.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 14:45, closed)
NOOOOO!
I luuuuuuuurve sushi! It's my favouritest food ever! In fact, I am having sushi this evening. Mmmmm....fishy....

Love it love it love it.

Sushi is ace
That said, I'd have no desire to look like Sarah Jessica Horseface, even if I was a lady.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 14:55, closed)
I've never had sushi.
I keep meaning to pick some up next time I'm in Tescos to see what it's like, but when I was a teenager in the Midlands I remember being fascinated by the revolving sushi bar in the Bullring.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 14:57, closed)
oh yes
i love sushi, it is probably my favouritest food in the whole blinking world! id have to agree with others about the horsefaced bint that i am often forced to watch
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:01, closed)
Tesco sushi is ok
But you should really get yourself to a sushi bar, even if you find the supermarket stuff a little disappointing.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:03, closed)
I love it too!!!
The best thing in Vancouver is the all you can eat sushi place, mmmmm.... :)
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:04, closed)
@Maladicta
do NOT buy sushi in tescos. Go to a proper sushi restaurant. Preferably one full of Japanese people as they must be doing something right.

Then I shall give the Tescos sushi a miss
and get myself to a proper sushi place... except I don't think there is one in Canterbury.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:22, closed)
I love sushi too
I don't find the Tesco stuff too bad either.

There's an all you can sushi place near me, my god thats a challenge I can't refuse.

That Parker Horseface charactor needs to get on the buffets!
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:22, closed)
@Maladicta
well the solution is quite obvious. What you need to do is come to London in August, and then you can have nice sushi and meet lots of B3ta people!
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:29, closed)
yay sushi
I love sushi, especially spider rolls and smoked eel.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:44, closed)
Mmmmmm^^
that brown sticky eel stuff. I loves the sushi.

@ al
Depending on my job situation (ie: whether I have a job or not), I can be sure at a later date whether or not I can make the bash; I'll stalk the event page for the time being...

Sushi is good
But not as jaw-droppingly fantastic as everyone makes out. Plus it doesn't fill you up unless you get quite a little bit. Raw tuna though, mmmmm.

The veggie stuff tastes fishy because the nori seaweed tastes of fish. Or is it that fish taste of seaweed, seeing as that's what many fishy-tasting fish eat? I could never work that one out...
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:59, closed)
where did you try sushi?
They were clearly doing it wrong.

The kaiten-sushi place in Kyoto train station is pretty good. Check it out. You know, should you find yourself in Kyoto at lunchtime.

mmm bragging.

@ Ms Swipe
May I be the first to wholeheartedly agree with your post.

There are plenty of other foods from around the world which taste divine - Italian, Mexican, Moroccan, Indian, French...even good British food.

Sushi by comparison is just bleugh.

And you're entirely right about the SatC thing too. I don't care if SJP looks like a horse, she has fantastic shoes, handbags and clothes. The whole show just looks fab. I want to live that life!
Especially as she seems to make enough money as a columnist to live in a gorgeous apartment, whereas I make enough money as a columnist to buy one shoe a month.

On the plus side I don't have to look like a horse.

sushi is all of the yum yums
but then I've been lucky enough to try the real thing in Japan, directly from a Sushi-ya restaurant at the fish market.

It tasted like an angel wanking on my tongue.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 18:17, closed)
I hope I don't sound like a tosser
but I too have had Sushi in Japan.
It really is something else, never buy Sushi from the supermarket. Yo! Sushi isn't bad though.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 19:25, closed)
Mmmmm...
The sushi from Harrods Food Court is pretty fucking awesome too, treated myself last time I went down to London =D

Yum

Sushi
I live in Japan and I can`t stand fucking sushi. The Japanese are cunts for picking the most disgusting thing on the menu and playing "make the foreigner eat the poo". Then they all laugh and say that they don`t like it either. Either that or the wolf down this stuff that looks and smells like semen and tell you how lovely it is and that you`re really missing out.

Oh, and ALL food in the country tastes like fish. Or seaweed. Even the beef.

@moniker
Vancouver definitely has more than "That all you can eat sushi place"

That being said, it's delicious but also overrated. Luckily, I live in a city with a sushi restaurant on every block downtown, which means it's all really cheap, and you have the opportunity to get the best stuff. Gotta love capitalism.
