DIY disastersI just can't do power tools. They always fly out of control and end up embedded somewhere they shouldn't. I've no idea how I've still got all the appendages I was born with.
Add to that the fact that nothing ends up square, able to support weight or free of sticking-out sharp bits and you can see why I try to avoid DIY.

christmas before last...my dad was talking a great deal about pruning the apple tree in our back garden, so i bought him one of these bad boys:

we've passed a few happy saturday afternoons now, in the garden, taking branches off. it's utterly bloody brilliant. no disasters to speak of, just good, clean fun. i'm rarely happier than when dad says "apple tree? chainsaw scissors?"

braaaaang nnngngngnng ngngnmy dad has one, they're amazing, weird 'cos when i head up to see them, mam's not happy me using a chainsaw, but the lopper is AOK. (i'm 26 fer facks sake)
