Provided he doesn't say something like "my half-caste friend, who stole my wallet, because they're all like that aren't they? Eh? EH?", is it really worth getting riled about? Would it matter if it was "my Scottish friend", or "my Swahili friend"? Irrelevant detail - but possibly not pejorative, malicious, or indicative of a 'mong'.

yeh maybe the mong comment was a bit harsh
I think it is a pejorative term though a few points down from the n bomb but not similar to Scottish.
