This is a question Irrational Hatred

People who say "less" when they mean "fewer" ought to be turned into soup, the soup fed to baboons and the baboons fired into an active volcano. What has you grinding your teeth with rage, and why?

People who use the term "off of" instead of "from"
like "It's that bloke off of the telly"

I hate it even more when these morons try and write this down and manage to come up with this nonsense "DJ Scott Mills off've radio 1 does this".

It makes NO sense!!!

I quite like Jon Holmes' parody of this -
he uses the phrase "from out of off of".

Or the whole should of/would of thing.

I've clicked
because you put "Scott Mills" and "hate" in the same sentence.

^ this
couldn't agree more. That irritating man has taken it a step further and now says "off" in front of everything. As in "Brian, off Bolton"

When my eldest was about 3
he somehow adopted the term "does be" instead of using 'is'.

"That cake does be nice". It sort of made sense but made him sound like a pirate.

he is clearly being possessed by Worzel Gummidge

Possibly over pedantic but ...
...you don't mean "try and write this down" you mean "try to ....."

Sorry.

I've noticed that most people on this board who complain about language use...
...seem to have bugbears about things that are perfectly acceptable in dialectic English. Standard English has its place in writing but i'm not sure it's so important in everyday use.

[whisper]You mean "dialect" not "dialectic" [/whisper]
