Whiskas reminds me that at 13 weeks, I too suffered an 'incident'
I was booked in for a D&C but was still having ongoing pregnancy signs, so I refused to go for it until I'd had a scan.

My doctor placated me by sending me for one, with a letter which I of course opened and read.

It said 'Thank you for seeing this girl. She has suffered a (medical term here) but says she still 'feels pregnant'...'

The gist was, let her see her dead baby and she'll soon get over it.

Long story short, my little 'incident' will be collecting his PhD this summer!

Well done to the "Incident"
and to his mother too

Awww, thank you!

It's true that if I hadn't stood up for myself, and for him, he wouldn't be here. Dread to think how sad that would be.

this is scary
The same thing happened to my mother. She was pregnant with twins and miscarried. The staff at our local hospital (which was possibly non-coincidentally shut down soon afterwards) sent her straight down for a D&C, assuming both babies were dead. Thank God for some particularly pushy Nigerian locum doctor who was on placement and insisted she be taken for a scan first.

My brother is now 21, a strapping 6ft1 marathon runner and all-round bundle of irritating energy: Apparently said doctor is now a big important consultant down south somewhere.

Frightening that this can happen, no?

Hell yes
and thank goodness for the Nigerian locum.

My 'incident' was eventually put down to placenta praevia.

The same thing happened to me
Although i've grown into a 32 year old geek who's most energetic pass time is pressing R1, R2 and X at the same time.
