This is a question The nicest thing someone's ever done for me

In amongst all the tales of bitterness and poo, we occasionally get fluffy stories that bring a small tear to our internet-jaded eyes.

In celebration of this, what is the nicest thing someone's done for you? Whether you thoroughly deserved it or it came out of the blue, tell us of heartwarming, selfless acts by others.

Failing that, what nice things have you done for other people, whether they liked it or not?

Fighting the crisis
For those of you who can read Spanish, here is the new: www.elmundo.es/elmundo/2008/10/08/barcelona/1223476480.html

For the rest: to help people these days with the crisis (worse in Spain than in England) this nice restaurant owner in Barcelona has offered the menu (starter, main, dessert, bread and wine or coffee) for 1€

Very nice from him

That is very nice
considering wine with a menu usually comes in a bottle over there.

I'm a cynic
Looks just like a loss leader to me, drum up a bit of media, so not entirely altruistic.

Well
It's not the first time he does something like this, but the first that appears in the newspaper.

I think the idea is brilliant. I wish some restaurants in Manchester did the same, even if it's only for the media.
