Alright Baz.
Did you get a new computer sorted?
(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 0:07, 1 reply, 12 years ago)
The motherboard's dead. I don't know if that can be fixed?
I'm getting a MacBook anyway.
Just got the last train home at London Bridge by seconds as well, today has been amazing. No shit broken laptop is gonna get me down.

Often not in PCs, my knowledge of laptops is limited though
You should be able to save stuff from your previous HDD though.

I didn't have you down as a creative type, Baz.

I think Baz is approaching this from a 'less likely to get a virus from porn' direction

(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 0:18, Reply)

Really?
(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 0:26, Reply)
As long as I can get my things off my HDD that's fine, that's very encouraging news.
And I'm not (well not much), just a complete flash twat who needs cool looking things.

It's seriously not worth it
You can pick up something better for far cheaper.

You should be able to get the files, I can't see why not. Have you got your laptop back?
(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 0:26, Reply)
Nah still in the shop.
I know how much of a rip off Macs are and my laptop is proper high spec, so getting the Mac equivalent (can't ever get worse than what you've got already) is going to be horrendously expensive. But they look so nice...
(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 0:32, Reply)
Why not just paint you laptop white.

(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 0:36, Reply)
Normally here I'd argue it's a case of style over substance, but we all know you're all style
Tbh, if you want a Mac, go for it. However, I would seriously recommend looking here first.

What are you views on notebooks?
I keep looking at them as my work Laptop really is 'for work' and the home laptop is quite old.
(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 0:42, Reply)
I'm not fond of them personally, but I see their purpose
I just hate the fucking keyboard on them.
(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 0:44, Reply)
I know what you mean.
But for hotels/travel they are probably more convenient than a mobile phone.
(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 0:48, Reply)
Definitely

(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 0:53, Reply)
I just don't fancy a tablet for some reason.

(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 0:54, Reply)
They all feel badly made to me
Despite the fact I know that the iPad had billions spent on developing it, it feels fragile in my hands
(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 1:00, Reply)
I don't own any Apple products.
I'm interested in seeing what the next Samsung Galaxy phone is going to offer.
(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 1:02, Reply)
Neither do I
My stepmum got one as a retirement present
(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 1:04, Reply)
I'm a bit of a tech geek as well tbh.
More style and substance rather than either or. Whenever I get a tele, sound system etc it has to be top quality. But it also has to look nice. Case in point my JBL Creature 2 speakers.
(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 0:46, Reply)
The Mac is a creative computer, I feel
If you were an editor, be it image, or video, then a Mac would make perfect sense.

However, if you aren't the creative type, and you're buying Mac only because of the name attached to it, there are better laptops out there for cheaper.
(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 0:48, Reply)
If I can find an ace looking laptop I'll go for that.
But they are very hard to come by. It'd have to be sleek as fuck and cool. But then they're expensive as it is and I think it might be worth a few hundred more to get a Mac for how much smugger I'd be about it.

Hence the link above
Tis a damn good site, certainly worth a look
(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 0:52, Reply)
I'm having a gander now.
Thankfully, my wallet isn't in my pocket otherwise I'd probably buy something.
(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 0:53, Reply)
Yeah nice one.
I was on my phone on the way home until now, just got in. Will have a look, cheers.
EDIT - Oh and any laptop would have to be Sony Vaio cos they're cool. I'd rather kill myself than have a Dell (or similar) laptop.

(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 1:05, Reply)
Aren't they all stuff full of the sample bits of kit?

(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 1:08, Reply)
With it being Sony, I wouldn't be surprised

(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 1:09, Reply)
Jesus christ MacBooks start at 1600 quid.
I thought they were around 1200.
(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 1:11, Reply)
As I say Baz, absolute rip off

(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 1:13, Reply)
The one I'd want/need is £1850.
I think this may just be a pipe dream. It's just I'm happy with my laptop now, I don't want to change it and I always said the next one I get'll be a MacBook Pro cos it's the only one that'd be better.
(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 1:14, Reply)
Would it be worthwhile simply getting one class up from your current one?

(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 1:18, Reply)
What the hell are you thinking about?
You don't need to drop anywhere near a grand for a new bit of kit.
(, Wed 18 Apr 2012, 1:13, Reply)
