But they look suspiciously like some kind of fusion band, which is rarely a good thing.

Fuck no they are mental punk, occasionally breaking down into reggae.
If you want an idea of their style, I recommend the songs 'Attitude' and 'Formaldehyde'.

They make much the most sense live.
I've a DVD of them at CBGB's in 1982 which is MENKLE.

Reggae seems to mix well with other genres
